Novelist Cathie Pelletier is putting her home and 35 acres in an essay contest. The home is located in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, seventy miles from Nashville, and forty miles from the Alabama border. The contest is open until October 30, 2003.

Essays must be no more than 250 words and address this theme: Why I would like to own this home and 35 acres. Each entry fee is $125.00, and someone WILL win for no more than that since Pelletier will pay the $282,900 taxes the winner is responsible for from her own profits.

There are 9 ways to win (9 runner-up cash prizes) but the Grand Prize is the house and 35 acres of land, valued at $450,000. The winner need not live in the home; arrangements can be made with our real estate agent to sell it.

Between 5000 and 7000 entries will be accepted. The contest is open to people throughout the world who are eighteen years of age or older. The winner/s will be chosen by impartial judges, and the winning essays posted on the website. The website also includes dozens of photos of the home and land, an Interview with Pelletier, Contest Rules, Entry Form, Map, and City Link.

One need not be a professional writer! Essays will be judged on originality, creativity, and desire to own the home and land. How the essays will be judged, and how the judges will be chosen, is covered on the website, in the INTERVIEW with Pelletier.
